Join us at Swan's Cohousing in Oakland for business networking and lunch with sustainability-minded entrepreneurs.  Lunch is from noon to 1:30 pm and will be catered by Le Cheval, which has been serving delectable Vietnamese cuisine since 1985.  This restaurant is famous for preparing wholesome, nutritious and delicious dishes that incorporate French, Chinese and Southeast Asian cooking concepts while introducing new Asian flavors to Bay Area patrons.

Speaker: Kerry Ricketts-Ferris will speak about Oakland Shines, a program which provides an opportunity for Oakland to shine by introducing a positive and affordable approach to energy consumption reduction.  Oakland Shines is the country's most ambitious energy efficiency effort for any downtown business district.  It is designed to reduce energy costs up to 20% in downtown Oakland by: 1) offering high incentives for advanced technologies that can cover between 30-80% of project costs, and 2) providing a concierge service to help take projects from development through installation.  By combining high incentives, technical support and project management assistance, Oakland Shines makes advanced technologies available to most downtown businesses, starting with a free energy audit as the first step to reducing energy costs.  The goal of this pioneering program: to save money for local businesses by eliminating unnecessary energy costs, while transforming downtown Oakland into the most energy efficient business district in the country.  Project partners are: Quantum Energy Services & Technologies, Inc. (QuEST), Pacific Gas & Electric, and the City of Oakland, Environmental Services Division.

Kerry is a Project Manager for QuEST, which provides a broad range of energy efficiency engineering and program management services, including: facility audits, energy program development, commissioning, and performance monitoring systems.  Kerry has worked for twenty years as a program and project manager and urban planner, with a specialization in sustainable development and planning initiatives.  She possesses a keen ability to engage communities and create momentum behind catalyst projects that serve to strengthen community and local business opportunities.
