Social Enterprise.  Social Entrepreneurs.  Social Innovation.  What's all the buzz about?  What's the connection to sustainability?  How does it benefit our local communities and economy?  Representatives of three local social enterprises will discuss these questions and share their innovative business models that utilize environmental solutions to create jobs and living wages for low-income populations.

Please join us for a panel discussion with:

Hilary Abell, Executive Director of W.A.G.E.S.(Womens' Action to Gain Economic Security), an Oakland non-profit that develops worker cooperative green businesses that create healthy, dignified jobs for low-income women.

Jodi Pincus, Executive Director, Rising Sun Energy, a Berkeley based non-profit providing low to no-cost energy retrofit services to moderate and low-income residents in the East Bay.  They also provide green jobs training and employment to young people and adults who face barriers to employment.

Chris Rummell, Manager of WasteNot, a social enterprise of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County that provides transitional employment and job training to low-income and socially disadvantaged by operating an electronics recycling business.

Moderated by Amy Barr, SBA Board Member and Principal at A2B Strategy
